JAMS TOWN

To create more fun and engaging virtual experience, JAMS10 will be using a social app called Gather.

Virtual JAMS10 participants will be able to access a Gather space, also known as JAMS TOWN, which enables attendees to participate in the live talks and poster sessions, visit sponsor booths, have casual chats, and more. Participants will be able to interact with fellow attendees within close distance and ask questions live during the virtual poster sessions, just like during in-person conferences. Check out the Gather website and the basic introduction to use the app here.

A brief guideline to use Gather for JAMS10 will be provided closer to the event date via this page. JAMS10 participants will be able to access the JAMS10 Gather space (JAMS TOWN) via the PROFILE page available after login. We highly recommend attendees use it throughout the virtual event for a fun and interactive virtual JAMS10!

Live Poster Presentations

Live virtual poster sessions using the Gather app will be conducted on 23 & 24 August at 12 – 1 pm (Malaysia, GMT +8), which is 2 – 3 pm (Sydney, GMT +10). Poster presenters are required to stand by their poster during the poster sessions to present their poster and interact with the audience.

The poster session will take place in dedicated rooms, where posters will already be pre-loaded and organised in a grid similar to an in-person conference. To interact with a poster, conference attendees will walk up to the poster and press the “x” key to enter a full-screen viewing. While viewing the poster, they will also be able to interact with the presenter. Examples of how a poster session will look like are given below (click on each image for a full view):

When your ‘avatar’ is in the private space near a poster, all other conference attendees in that space will be able to see and hear you through your webcam and microphone. You will only be interacting with people in this space, and not the neighbouring spaces. This promotes conversation with the presenter without interrupting conversation going on at other posters. This is the next best thing to having a poster session in person!

Once registered and logged in, participants can submit their poster anytime before 9 August 2021 (GMT +8). Posters can be submitted through the PROFILE page under the POSTER UPLOAD link. Guidelines to prepare your poster are given on the POSTER UPLOAD page. Poster presenters will need to create their poster such that it suits the formatting requirements from Gather for embedding images.

We look forward to having your poster presented at JAMS10!
